Overweight or
obesity is one of the most turning factors behind our common illness and this
is why people always remain in anxiety about their body fat. I myself also
belong to that group that fears fat. It is commonly known to all that consuming
too much fat makes us fat. But how far is this conception true?
It is true that fat provides us with more
calories than other foods that contain less amount of fat. For example, a gram
of dietary fat gives us nine calories whereas a gram of other food that contain
less fat such a carbs or protein gives us only four calorie. From this perception
we usually think that by eating dietary fat there is a possibility of becoming
fat as our body keeps the additional calorie in store that causes obesity
afterwards.
Believe it or
not, the above theory does not have any stand any more. All calories have equal
impact on our health. In fact, it is not the fat that control sour obesity but
it is the metabolism that controls our health condition to be fat or lean. The
fact has been revealed from a recent study that it is healthy fat- not militant
calorie counting or low-fat diets- can help you get lean. From the laboratory
test it has been proved that calories derived from different foods have the
same impact upon health though our body is not a laboratory but a complex
microorganism that performs a thousand types of role to our health.
Food is a great
regulatory mechanism for our health. It is not merely a source of energy but it
regulates our hormones, immunity, brain chemistry and above all our microorganism.
Food is the root cause of our health genes or disease genes.
It has been
revealed from a study that it is not the low-calorie food or low-fat diet that
reduces our fat but it is the healthy fat that helps us reducing our body fat
or obesity. Because those who take high fat diet, they achieve a faster
metabolism that keeps all the organs working well and thus helps in producing
vital substances required for a sound life. On the contrary consumption of
low-fat or high carbs diet other than the dietary fat rather amasses a high
degree of insulin that afterwards disable the metabolism power of a human body
and thus a human body losses its control over it and grows fat.
As per a
research conducted by Dr. David Ludwig and his Harvard colleagues, those who
eat high fat, low carbs food do well than those who eat low fat, high carbs
food. The research was conducted as a crossover trial where two groups of
people consumed two different types of food for a particular period. For
example, they consumed high fat food, for a particular period. Again the same
group of people consumed the opposite type of food, low fat food, for a particular
period and thus the research was conducted over two groups of people and each
time the people that consumed high fat diet proved to be healthy than the group
that consumed low-fat and high carbs food.
The above study helped in determining the
effect of metabolism that regulates our health. To be mentioned that both the
groups of people were provided with the food that contained same amount of
calories but their difference was only with the type of food i. e high carbs,
low-fat food and low fat, high carbs food. The study gives a very comprehensive
result to adopt a decision that each individual of the high fat group was able
to burn 300 calories more than that of the low-fat group. Beside these, the
high-fat group showed an improvement with their level of cholesterol, TG, LDL
and PIA-1 including bigger resistance with insulin or pre-diabetes.
From the above
discussion, it can be realized that the fat-cell of our body is regulated by
the type of food that we eat and why we should eat such foods that are enriched
in quality fat and fiber like eggs, avocados, nuts, seeds, coconut oil and olive
oil, etcetera.
